  1. In the past 3 years, I have been working with students with different types of disabilities. Everyday is different and makes my day unique. Most of my time is to find a solution to help them succeed in their learning and I love doing it.

    1. That sounds great Supada! What disabilities do you find most difficult to find solutions for?

    2. I would say learning disability is the most difficult to find solutions. Other disabilities have assistive technologies to support learning. With learning disability, the solutions need to come from instructional design and development view. For example, divide course content in small sections so that it's not overwhelm learners.

  2. I work with two people who are blind, but otherwise don't have much access to students with disabilities. I've learned so much from these two people though! I realize how dependent I am on my vision, but also how much it means I miss. Both of these people are professionals and very intelligent. They have made me aware of how many barriers could be eliminated if only people were more aware of accessibility before they developed or built something. I also see how people often treat them as if they were more disabled and less intelligent than they are. At the airport, one of these colleagues was offered a wheelchair. Why? She had to tell the flight attendant that only her eyes don't work - there's nothing wrong with her legs. I was shocked that the flight attendant even offered! Exposure. Getting to know people with different disabilities is the only way we are going to break down these barriers. Thank you for this course!

  3. I had a student with visual and hearing impairment in my class. Disability Service department provided a second monitor for him to use in the class. When I demonstrate my assignments in class, the student can see it in one monitor and do his own work on the second monitor. I also helped him enlarge the fonts.
I also had to speak slowly, clearly, and loud enough for him to hear in the class. This not only benefit him, but also helped other students who speak English as second language. With a combine efforts from me, himself, and his classmates, he's able to complete the class with a grade 'A.' He created a functional and beautiful website as his final project.
